Devendra Banhart dans les maternelles !

Etonnante intervention l'autre jour dans l'émission " Café Bazar" sur Inter, consacrée à " L'évolution de l'éducation". Une institutrice de maternelle téléphonait en direct et s'excusait d'être un peu enrouée, parce que, disait elle ( je cite approximativement): " ... en ce début d'année scolaire, je parle et je chante beaucoup. J'en profite aussi pour initier les enfants à l'Anglais, et d'ailleurs il y a des coîncidences bizarres, car la chanson que vous venez de diffuser est justement celle que nous sommes en train d'apprendre en ce moment..."

Or, la chanson qui venait quelques instants plus tôt de passer à l'antenne était... " I feel just like a child" de Devendra Banhart !

Alors, on peut penser ce qu'on veut de Devendra Banhart ( qu'il a beaucoup emprunté à Marc Bolan, par exemple), mais il n'empêche que le fait que des minots de maternelle puissent apprendre ses chansons dans les écoles Françaises m'apparait aujourd'hui comme une pensée plutôt réconfortante. Envoyez-moi l'enregistrement !

Devendra Banhart: Okay, let me explain myself. When we were recording the record, my friend said to me, "You know, man, they're going to play this record in Starbucks." And I said, "Well, I'm going to write a song that will guarantee that will never happen." Then that night we watched the movie Chicken Hawk: Men Who Love Boys, about NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association. At the same time, swimming in my head was the idea of a song about a schizophrenic hermaphrodite with the male and female physical characteristics in one body, but also the male and female psychologies in one body. So the first half of the song is from the male perspective, and then it switches, and the second half is from the female perspective.
TONY: Aren't you worried about getting a reputation like Michael Jackson's?
Devendra Banhart: You mean his reputation as the King of Pop? That would be great!
